New Delhi [India], July 22 (ANI): BJP MP Jagdambika Pal on Tuesday criticised the Opposition, particularly the Congress party, for disrupting the proceedings in the Lok Sabha and urged them to allow the House to function smoothly.
Speaking to ANI, the BJP MP reiterated that the government is open to discussions and accused the Congress of attempting to stall parliamentary proceedings instead of participating in debates.
“Yesterday, when the opposition and Congress came to the well, I told Rahul Gandhi to ask his members to maintain the decorum of the House; everyone will get a chance to speak. The government is ready to answer all the questions of the opposition… The whole world has seen the valour and bravery of the Indian armed forces… We all should celebrate it…”
Pal accused the Congress party leaders of creating ruckus in the House, further alleging that Lok Sabha LoP and Congress MP Rahul Gandhi does not want to have a discussion.
The BJP MP said, “There will be a discussion on the Special Intensive Revision (SIR)…The opposition should let the house function…Today, all the questions are listed on the issues of farmers…Lok Sabha LoP Rahul Gandhi should have knowledge of the traditions of the house…Rahul Gandhi does not want to have a discussion; the Congress party leaders want to create ruckus by coming into the well.”
Earlier today, the party leaders of the Indian National Developmental Inclusive Alliance (INDIA) protested against the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls in Bihar, alleging that the voting rights of people are being taken away.
Multiple leaders, including Lok Sabha Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi and Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav, stood at the steps of the Parliament at Makar Dwar and protested against the Bihar SIR, calling for the exercise to be stopped.
Meanwhile, the proceedings of the Upper House of the Parliament were adjourned till 2 pm, minutes after it reconvened.
Chairing the Rajya Sabha, BJP MP Ghanshyam Tiwari, adjourned the House amid sloganeering from the Opposition. Earlier today, the Rajya Sabha was adjourned till noon amidst continued sloganeering.
The Lok Sabha was also adjourned till 2 pm. (ANI)
