Nagpur (Maharashtra) [India], October 20 (ANI): Maharashtra BJP President Chandrashekhar Bawankule on Sunday countered the allegations of the tempering with the voters list in Maharashtra with the help of the Election Commisisoner and dismissed them as laughable.
“It is very laughable. Does it ever happen in the Election Commission…Can anyone interfere (in its working)?.To the contrary, during the Lok Sabha polls, 1,65, 000 lakh votes were not in Nagpur (in the electoral rolls) which were there in 2019 (Lok Sabha polls),” Chandrashekhar Bawankule told ANI.
“We brought the entire matter before the Election Commisison. I myself had met the EC and the state election commissioner and brought the issue of manipulation in the entire Maharashtra Lok Sabha before the EC. We presented a submisison along with the entire names stating that such names were there in 2019 parliamentary polls and that there were bogus names in the 2024 Lok Sabha polls, ” Bawankule explained.
Shiv Sena (UBT) MP Sanjay Raut on Sunday accused the BJP of tampering with voters’ list in Maharashtra with the help of the Election Commission. He said that the Opposition would raise this issue on international platforms.
“They (BJP) are trying to mess up the voter list with the help of the Election Commission. The BJP is contesting nearly 150 assembly seats and they are finding those people who have voted for the Maha Vikas Aghadi and replacing their names with bogus voters,” Raut told reporters.
“We will raise this issue on international platforms and tell people what is happening in the country,” he added.
Raut alleged that Union Home Minister Amit Shah is trying his best to impose President’s rule in Maharashtra even after the elections. “But we will not let this happen. Uddhav Thackeray has called a special meeting today at 12:30 pm and we will take an important decision,” he said earlier on Sunday.
He alleged that there are discrepancies in the voters’ lists in Maharashtra and Jharkhand.
“There are discrepancies in the voter list in Maharashtra and Jharkhand. They tried in Haryana as well. We defeated them in Lok Sabha and they are losing in Vidhan Sabha elections as well,” Raut said.
Maharashtra will go to the polls on November 20 and the result will be declared on November 23. (ANI)
